My go to I'll have to think. I'm studying for my last make up final I just found out about. My playlist looks like:

"southern man" -CSNY crossroads
"wharf rat>I need a miracle>Bertha"- GD road trips vol 1
"Harry hood"- phish some 98 show
Forget what songs but some Medeski Martin and wood
Zappa
Velvet underground

Sure you already know but for to stream lots of good shows (usually sbd or matrix) go to http://archive.org/details/GratefulDead

That particular link is for the dead but site has lots of sbds and auds from many many bands. Also grooveshark.com

Some real good stuff in here. I think each day I am going to post a new video on a different band for everyone to check out. Some will hate it, some may love it. Not sure yet though.

Awe, go ahead and post it. Show us what makes you tic. (tick - another thread) Advice - post it early cause the grumpy members get up late.

Haha yeah something similar to this is helped me expand my musical tastes. So I'll try to do different music from different "genres" of stuff I listen to.

last year I loaded my MP3 with blue grass for hiking in GA/NC

This year I wanted something different so I now have a whole lot of EDM (Electronic Dance Music), mostly of the "trance" genre. New Age with a strong beat. Really makes you bounce up the trail. I got 99 dance songs for 99 cents and a whole bunch of similer music free off of Amazon. I just love those free sampler collections.

The Ipod or mp3 players and computers in general has played a huge part in me revisiting so much great music that I had preveous forgot about,or not heard in years,Love it.My kids had these devices long before me,and finally I got on board with the whole computer era.very cool.I have some older friends that just don't want to have anything to do with it (computers)....kinda of a shame, but hey HYOH right.

Phish.

I'm a pretty big Phish fan, but they don't really do it for me when hiking. That being said, I have a Phil and friends show from '99 with Trey and Page that I couldn't get away from. Help on the way> slipknot> Franklin's tower to start the show. Played some good Dead songs and delved into some oldschool Phish in the second set with an incredible Chalkdust Torture.

But..... for me, it's Yonder Mountain String Band. "I was ten weeks away from my home, longer than I'd ever been before, I may not be learning anything, but it's too late to stop me now". They have countless songs that speak to me. Railroad Earth, Hackensaw Boys and Cornmeal are up there too. I like be some bluegrass if you couldn't tell.

Yeah man that 99 show is sick. There's also a 2007 or 06 Phil and friends show with trey. I think I may like it better than the other one. I'll pm you the link later. Love the Bertha

I never bring tunes with me on the trail on any kind of electronic device. But sometimes they pop up in my head. And every once in a while, when I'm confident no one else is around, I sing along out loud. I find that it's Neil Young songs more than any other artist. And, yes, from time to time someone comes around a corner of the trail and catches me in the act -- I quiet down and wait for the person to pass well behind me before I start up again.

Seem to have a lot of 60s and 70s RnR always around since I grew up on that, always have GD close at hand and I'm getting back into The Band lately; usually have the Waterboys nearby and for newer stuff I've been into Mumford and Sons.

I don't always put on my music but I carry my ipod with me. I do hike into the night a lot and to keep moral up I put on music. I listen to a lot of folksy, indie stuff that gets me into a chilled out mood.
Mumford and Sons
Iron and Wine
Fleet Foxes
Of Monsters and Men

But days that are going tough I throw on music I can angry or pumped up with.
Amon Amarth
