Hello everyone. I was wondering, how close does the AT get to the Ben & Jerry's factory? Could you hitch to it?

It's actually within walking distance of the trail.

i dont know if theres more than 1 factory (seems most of those places have an actual factory and a place where tourists visit and see a token amount of product being made) but the one i was to is near burlington, which is well north of the where the AT veers off to NH/ME. it might actually be very near to the LT however, if thats what youre asking.

It's in Waterbury far north from Maine Junction though relatively close to the LT. Really not that spectacular of a tour and they only give you a spoonful of ice cream, definately not worth hitching to if you are on the AT.

Waterbury is also home to Green Mountain Coffee as well as the Long Trail's Green Mountain Club HQ.

1+ on the tour, but I did enjoy walking through the Ice Cream graveyard. Sad, yet funny at the same time......

If they offered all you can eat ice cream, that would be worth paying for.

Several years ago, a buddy of mine, who is an Electrical Engineer, went to work for B&J. They were starting up the new plant and new processing lines. He had two young daughters at that time and as an employee you got all the ice cream to take home you wanted. Plus starting up the new lines, there were many trial runs. He brought a large chest freezer just for the ice cream and it was his responsibility to keep the neighbors and schools functions well supplied, which he did. By the way the last time I saw him he had gained like a hundred pounds!
