At some point I'd like to do the osceola loop connecting with the Greeley pond trail starting at Tripoli road. I know Greeley got messed up but i don't know which parts?

Also, climbing the chimney would mean doing Counterclockwise with East south to main peak right? i'd rather go up than down.

From what I can gather, the middle section of Greeley Ponds Trail is still closed. They have opened up the southern section from Livermore Rd. up to the Timber Camp Trail, according to this blog post by Steve Smith, one of the White Mountain Guide editors:

If you want to climb the chimney, yes you'd want to do the loop counterclockwise, going up to East Osceola first, then into the col, up the chimney and up to Osceola. There is a by-pass to the chimney, so you don't have to climb the actual chimney; in the winter there is sometimes a bypass for the bypass. I've done it twice, once last summer with my then 10 year old son, and once this winter right after a snowstorm with a friend. The bypass is steep, but not straight up like the chimney and really not that hard. Last summer, we didn't even realize we were on the bypass until we were halfway down it, and the scramble back up was not that bad. One of these days, I'm actually going to climb the chimney itself!

Boo... might have to wait on that for now then.

i don't think i'd have a problem going up the chimney :)
