I'm in the process of switching from chemical treatment (AM) to a Sawyer mechanical filter, the Sawyer Squeeze. I am also re-thinking the use of a platapus bladder with hose/ bite valve, and just going with a disposable water bottle for hydration. In my Youtube search I ran across this fellow who has developed a pretty impressive and versatile solution. Check it out !!

that video looks interesting. But I'm inclined to ditch any hydration hoses/bite valves any more. I just don't think they are worth all the hassle.

I'm doing the same thing as you are. Switching to the Sawyer Squeeze filter, losing the Platy/Camelbak bladder/hose hydration systems, and using disposable plastic water bottles (aqua fina, gatorade, powerade, etc) or the Platy soft-bottles like the 1L.

Why not just go with the Sawyer SP140? Same concept just a reusable water bottle.

Switched to a sawyer squeeze and Gatorade bottles. Katady and MSR filters are in my hurricane supplies now.

I've been drinking directly from the squeeze. No need to carry extra water bottles. I had to drop the sipping habit, but so far I'm really happy with it.
