I ran into a guy that hiked in 87 with Wingfoot. I got some great stories out of him. Anyway, his name is Red Devil. Scrappy guy from Massachusetts. This guy has some serious miles. Anyway I hiked with him today and am sure he would want to say hello to any of you guys that may know him. Good fella

In 87 I met a guy, from west hartford, Bob Meade. Are you a white blazer?
Newfound Gap to Damascus and Pearisburg to Damascus in '87. Don't recall Red Devil but I remember a hiker named Red Man or Red Beard that used red ink in the registers.
I was with two other guys and we were known as the Virginia boys. People may remember us more as the guys who packed a guitar.
I hike in 1987 mostly with Daddy Long Legs.

I started a thru-hike in 87, DNF. I don’t remember anyone by name except Jim, who I remember as retired military. I expected Jim to be a successful thru-hiker. Now, I am the military retiree hiking the trail in 2019. I also remember the first time I saw Jim was as he reached the summit of Blood Mountain. Jim using an ALICE pack and other military gear.
