I'll not be up there until the following week. I've enjoyed resupply and outfitting at that store, as well as a couple of other NYC outfitters. Have a good workshop.

I live in NYC and hiked the AT in '98. With that said though, I'm not 100% sure I'll be around that day... I may still be out of town. Hopefully though I'll be around to come. What does participation entail?

Man I wish it was that weekend, 22-24th, since I'll be in the city then and would love to participate. Unfortunately I'll still be in VT then. Good luck and I hope it goes really well

Doug

I'm available on Monday.
I hiked 750 miles last year on my attempted thru-hike.
Hoping to finish this year.

I'll try to make it. I'll pass the message along to my fellow 2003 SOBOs Freegan and 3 Ounce here in NYC.

Glad your bringing this experience to the concrete wilds of Manhattan.

Yogi Clyde, Mr. Llama, Smooth, Ender et al,

I'm glad there's so much interest. The workshop will take one of two forms. If there are many new to long distance hiking, we will focus on a workshop about gear selection, preparation (mental and physical) and the like and will also share war stories.

If it is mostly experienced hikers, then it can be more of a spitball session where we compare notes and ideas. Also, I'd like to talk about other long distance trails folks have done from the Long Trail, PCT, and hiking done outside the US (I've hiking in the Dolomites and the Alps and would love to share those experiences)

Feel free to bring photos, an odd bit of homemade gear, whathave you. Post here or PM with ideas.
