Whack-a-mole

I'm now 50, but when I was a teenager in Scouts, I had a great friend. We back packed together, spent the night at each others houses, fished, hunted and were just generally great friends. About age 19, life took us different ways, and I never saw him again, but I thought about him over the years, and hoped he was doing ok. This weekend on a section hike, I was at Wayah shelter south of NOC on a solo trip. The trail was pretty crowded this weekend, and everybody was hanging out at the shelter enjoying some conversation. This guy was looking real familiar, and with a few questions, we figured out who each other were. We spent the whole weekend hiking and talking and catching up. Learning about each others wives, kids, and life in general. It was so remarkable. We haven't seen each other for 31 years and end up meeting at a little shelter on the AT. Go figure!! We plan on getting the families together real soon, and reconnecting. I am simply blown away.
