Most of our gear has to have multiple functions or else we don't carry it...

12oz nalgene has a few. extra h2o when needed, booze bottle, shake maker, coffee in the am, soup made with pasta h2o in the pm, cold tea at noon, berry collector, scramble egg maker on town day, and a bunch of others...
I carry a razor blade instead of a knife. It does the same jobs (for the most part) and weights just about nothing.
Rubbing alcohol is another. We use it to toughen our feet, kill the stink, wash with, clean utinsiles, and as a back up fuel.
