If you would like a nice quite place to camp near spy rock try maintop mountain. Continue north from spy rock on the AT and look for a blue blaze trail heading up and to the left (this used to be the old AT trail). Continue for about .2 miles until you get to the top. There are a few good camping areas with plenty of wood. This blue blaze trail comes down off the ridge and rejoins the AT on the other side. Sometimes the camping area near spy rock gets really crowded so keep this place in your bag of tricks!
