I am in NW Arizona and I have checked in here a couple times and watched some documentaries about hiking and I want to do it but just have not yet started. I know I can put one foot in front of the other. I need to buy some gear and go enjoy a weekend in the wilderness, refine the gear, and enjoy another weekend or longer, etc. until I feel confident of putting together some serious mileage.

Is it fear? Time constraints? Motivation? I don't know but I do know that once I get started, I will probably not look back. I gotta just do it!

Yep, that's how additctions start. First you buy a daypack, a water bottle and take a little walk in the woods. Next thing you know, you got a closet full of gear and are taking 6 month hiking trips!
