I recently purchased this cookset and the handles get so darn hot. Any suggestions on something I could wrap around them?

Yea but have you thought about not heating the handles?

Don't cut or poke holes in 1/3 of the alcohol stove - now no problem with the handles.

Make the stove again Grasshopper.

I remember burning myself on someone's snow peak ti cup handle - try using MSR Lite Lifter or maybe a glove liner

It's a pack a feather featherfire stove. Ive been using a handkerchief but I can just see the thing going up in flames at some point.

That's one thing I use my machete for - a potholder -an Ontario 12" blade.
Put the blade through the handle back of the blade down against the pot and lean/wedge the sharp side against the handles.
With a little practice it's plenty stable.

1/3 vacant stove head is a good idea, I may try that. I adjust my windscreen in tight to do about the same thing.

Piece of silicone pot holder will work too

(i hope you have other uses for your machete cuz that's' a bit heavy and overkill for a potholder haha)

Just wait a minute. Titanium cools very fast.

Get a little piece of Carbon fiber cloth from Tinny at minibulldesign.com. He also makes lids for the Snow Peaks which is nice to have sometimes.

I have similar issue with one of my pots. I use a small green pot scrubbing pad. they come two per pack, about 1/4" thick and 2.5" X 3.5" in size. Cut one in half, it makes a perfect pot holder and doubles as a scrub pad for a dirty pot.

Maybe sugru? (http://sugru.com/about#main_properties)

I have a SnowPeak 700 and have put this stuff (http://amzn.com/B0006MZKJ8) on the handles. Just take out the handles, slip the tubing over, and put the handles back on. It is like a pot holder that is permanently attached.

When I checked the link there was nothing there.

I clipped the handles off my Snowpeak 450 and built a cozy for it out of 2 mm foam sheet that I picked up at a craft store. It's easy to clip the handles but it's a bear to get that layer of metal off (the handle support) since it's welded on. Now I can heat it and slip it into the cozy right after. One of these days I'll post a picture of the final result and the total weight.

Agreed, no need to over complicate it. Never seen an instance where the bandana would get burned as long as a bit of care was taken, then again that might all depend on the particular stove.

Fun tip, a dry cotton bandana is an excellent insulator, a wet cotton bandana conducts heat more easily and is more likely to burn your hands.

I use a piece of rubber/silicone tubing, split down vertically and put on the handles. It still gets really hot, but is more manageable than the bare handles.

I agree. I have an REI titanium cup and use it on top of my MSR Pocket Rocket when I want to reheat my coffee. The whole gets very hot of course but it's cool enough to pick up and drink from pretty quickly.

One carries a bandana because it has 1001 uses, right? That's what I use on my hot handles of my SP-600 ti mug/pot. :)

Agree, if the handle is hot, its likely because you are heating it. Dont heat it. My SP600 handles stay cool in my solo setup.

I have the same Snow Peak cup, just wait 45-60 seconds and those handles will be back to room temperature. Here's the responses I got when I asked the same question before I found out how fast the handles cool on their own.

I used the carbon felt windscreen from minibulldesigns as a pot grabber, windscreen and insulator while eating. It works great.
