My wife's a sailor and on her recommendation I've been carrying spinniker tape for years. I have an umbrella that I repaired several years old and the patch is still 100%. Duct tape is fine, but if you want a cleaner, more permanent repair to nylon, etc...

That's very cool. I found it on their web site. But at $0.18 per foot, I'm not sure it's in the budget.
After all, a REAL thru hiker is unbelievably cheap. Ooops, wrong thread.
