Andrea and Hank Southgate, AT in 2008. Hank was working on his PhD in philosophy and Andrea was a biologist. Between his writing and her ability to describe the flora and fauna, it made for wonderful reading.

Gangsta from 2009. Laughed my ass off several times while reading that one. I also enjoyed reading all of the 'Packadivas' journals from that same year, I think Storm's journal was the best of the group. But they must've had some girly drama along the way. Loon ditched 'em after Damascus, and then in the Whites the remaining crew split up due to 'personal reasons'.

If you want a different type of journal, check out Snack Break from 2007. Her journal wasn't a whole lot of 'today we did this many miles... etc...', but the majority of her journal was her thoughts about life on the trail each night when she got back to camp. Almost philosophical, and very much not a typical travelogue. I really enjoyed it a lot--her's was the first one I've read that moved me enough to send an email to say thanks for sharing the experience.

Maybe it just struck a chord with me, but it's one of my favorites.

I have to get more sleep.... I saw 'Hank was a philanderer and Andrea was a bigomist.'
