Can someone confirm that there is parking near the Clyde Smith shelter? According to my map, there is a marked parking lot off Roaring Creek Rd but I wanted to make sure before I had my shuttle drop me off near there. Didn't know if there was a blue blaze trail that led to the main trail.

~Thanks,
Dave

Roaring Creek Rd ends at a Forest Service Gate approx 1 mile from Overmountain Shelter. Greasy Creek goes to the Greasy Creek Friendly and it is approx .7 mile from the AT a little over a mile trail south of Clyde Smith Shelter

There are places on the Roaring Creek Rd/Tiger Creek Rd on the Tennessee side of the Trail near Clyde Smith Shelter. That is not a Trail Head The Club does not recommend off road parking in the Roan Mtn area. Maintainers have had their vehicles vandalized while on maintenance trips.

Thanks Sarge. We're not parking there, just being dropped off. I just didn't know if there was a sign or something to let us know where to pull over to drop us off.

Scouter Dave: Sarge is right. Don't attempt this. There are no signs or blazes leading to the trail from the Tiger Creek area. The easiest thing is to walk up from Greasy Creek Friendly.

Can you give me some bearing on where this is?
