Going to hike Monson, ME SOBO to Mass and was wondering where I could find a link to check current river conditions for fording purposes. Though I am a seasoned hiker, I will have wife and dog with me so I am somewhat concerned.

Also, not sure if there is a link with somewhat current drought or water info along the trail but that would be much appreciated as well.

Thanks!

Go to United States Geological Survey, on left of home page click on left side of page-WATER. You will get real time water level for the USofA, each State. Have fun!

This is the best way to access the data as long as you are somewhat familiar where you are in Maine

When I hiked in Maine earlier this year everything was easy to ford. One week they got 7" of rain and some places were practically unfordable. I wouldn't rely on a website that much. Since you are heading SOBO you should run into plenty of hikers every day that you can hit up for trail intel.

The following link depicts the USGS streamflow information for the state graphically.

It is what it is, Coach Lou has the right link. Only thing is in my experience the crossing problems are on none listed stuff and it all has to do with knowing it's there and having been in the weather. This is one of these things I just deal with as it happens.
