Where's a good place to hike on the AT for 2-3 days, anywhere from 30-40 miles?

Thanks!

I'd say start at Dalton and work up to Rt 9/Bennington, or Start at Salisbury and work up to Great Barrington (Rt. 23), depending on your pace.

The two best section of the AT in MA are at the beginning and the end.

So I would definately start at Salisbury CT - Riga, Sage Ravine, Race, Everest, Jug End

Consider starting at Falls Village, CT, for an easy warmup (and Rand's View) prior to Salisbury. I just did Great Barrington to Bennington last week. Nice conditions, but for the most part a long green tunnel.

I've summited Mt. Everest (Mass.) without supplemental oxygen. :) Maybe you mean Everett? And I agree, Salisbury through Jug End is really nice. Also, Mt. Washington State Forest (Alander Mt., Mt. Frissel, Brace Mt.), though not on the AT is also good (South Taconic Trail). Bashbish Falls is worth a side trip if it's raining.

The Mrs. and I just walked from Rt. 7 to Tyringham. Very Pleasant, It's not the 'Glamour Spot' so I'd never been there, but it was very pleasant and Cosmo and his crew keep it in great shape. + mama & her cubs also like the area.

Pick a section in Mass that ends somewhere around Dalton Mass. you hit Upper Goose Pond Cabin and might be able to stop in to Tom's in Dalton. Something Like Great barrington to Uppergoose (18 ish miles) then Upper Goose to Dalton about 20 miles and then its another 9 miles to Chesire and 23 miles up and all the way over Mt. Greylock the tallest mt in mass (quite beautiful)

Actually, a hike straddling the CT/MA border would be good - Great Falls, CT to Jug End, MA, or to Rt. 7 in Sheffield, near Great Barrington. Worth a look. The falls are a nice place to start, Rand's View is great, as are the rocks on Mt. Prospect and near Giant's Thumb, the descent of Barrack Massif is beautiful and tricky, and the southern Taconic are a treat.
