Thanks HB, that'll work. Now I'm jammin' and postin' at the same time. Saw the Edgar Winter Group one summer in Tampa. It was called Summer Jam. 1974. War, Kiss, Pink Floyd, and I can't even remember who else. We had a damn good time. Everybody was walking out laughing, cuttin' up, you know just happy as hell. When we got outside of the gates we had to walk past a line of about 200 cops. I s*** you not. Talk about straighten' up. I mean it was immediate. Everybody. Then we got past em' and then we got back to "normal".

That's just one example of why they tell hikers not to try and forage their own wild mushrooms. :D
Since we are cyber hiking maybe we should add low carb instant mashed taters during the winter.
All hikers, whether real or cyber, should shun the words "low cal" with passion and intensity.

Ok... here's my contribution to the good old days in music. Ever since I "meet" Lone Wolf on WB... this song has been running through my head. This one is for you-Lone Wolf. :)
Seriously tho, I loved the music I grew up with in the 70's. I liked a lot of European bands and single artists. Bee Gee's, Elton John, Beatles & I LOVE Gilbert O'Sullivan. Barry White and Stevie Wonder are good. The Guess Who.. :) I like the "top hits" and sappy love songs.
I love music but I don't sing real well or even play an instrument. All the other members of my family (mom + 3 brothers) do, except my dad.. I guess I took after him. ;) My mom plays- the accordion & piano = awesome!
Busy day ahead for me.... lub all y'all, yous guys & you'uns. Have a gr8 day!! :)

Stopped by Tow's place and talked with him for a while. Ran into a SOBO at the Lost Mountain Shelter on the 4th (oct) who said he met you somewhere up in the Mt. Rogers area. His name I think was Mike. Does that sound about right.

Since the topic is Lake of the Clouds Hut, this is me in the Dungeon this past July (we hiked up Mt. Washington on a clear day the next morning) - I was warned about "terrible mice" in the dungeon - it was fine - no mice - but I had a lot of fun rigging my mouse proof food hang:18452

They did a reno of the Dungeon since I was there. It was just two platforms so you had to slide into your slot. I got lucky & it was full so got to sleep on top of one of the tables in the dining room. Talk about a room with a view!

I want to go do the Whites so badly. I can't wait to go back to my home state and do that AT section. I never stepped foot on the AT. I lived there for almost 18 years. :(
We went skinny dipping in the "lake" that day too - - I wasn't thru-hiking (just 200 miles) but I do 20 mile days (even in the whites) so the thrus were happy enough to hang out with me (and hear about my thru-hike 27 years before)

Got my Woffer certification at Pinkham & have lots of family in the area. My fathers side of the family that grew up in Berlin rarely ventured out other than hunting.

Actually less. Several years ago they caught a family that did the biker circuit as a theft ring. One year later they were"down to" recovering 30 bikes a month with the cooperation of the family. I have talked with several people who thought people loading a bike on a truck were because it was broke down when it was being stolen in plain sight.

If you don't act entitled you won't pass as a thru! Seriously I have berated many thrus about their behavior over the years. I have far more respect for section hikers. They do it the hard way. Hiking a few weeks at at time year after year & just when getting hiker legs they have to go home.

You also have to starve yourself for a few weeks before. Thrus are known for their appetite. When my friend from AT Picked me up from PCT & brought me into Seattle the waiter brought a huge platter with my Philly Cheesesteak & fries & said "see if you can finish that" We both burst out laughing. I finished mine & then my friends leftovers!
