I saw a post on Viewsfromthetop.com that a person hiking on the grafton loop in western Maine had encountered several dry or nearly dry campsites. This is a loop trail that runs off the AT on either side of Grafton Notch. As the terrain is quite similar to the rest of western ME and several of the shelters are on on the ridge line, this may not bode well for water at the campsites. The trail does corss several streams every day down in the valleys between the summits so there is water, it just may mean you get to carry it or camp down low where there is water.

O course a few days of rain will charge up the water sources.
