I'm so excited for this loop! I think it will showcase some of the Smokies best...tell me what you think:

Sept 1-- Smokemont to Newton Bald to Deep Creek and camp at site 53-- 16.4 miles
Sept 2-- deep creek to AT north to Charlie's bunion to dry sluice camp at 49-- 14.1 miles
Sept 3-- Hughes ridge to AT north to low gap to big creek and camp at 36-- 22.3 miles
Sept 4-- Gunter fork to BMT to camp site 44-- 14.2 miles
Sept 5-- BMT to Smokemont-- 12.8 miles

The only problem I see is the 3rd. The last time I tried to get reservations at 36 I was denied because I didn't have a horse, and they wouldn't let me get 37 because it was full - Walnut bottoms is typically full. I would have a back up route set up just in case when you put in your reservation. And I would try getting that reservation called in exactly at 0800 hrs 2 August.

you can actually call august 1st if sept 1st is your first night out. We will be hiking from mt leconte shelter to pecks corner on sept 2nd. maybe well see you
