I'm hiking the Weminuche in August and am wondering if a 2WD truck would be able to make it up to the pass.

I've managed a few trail crews up there and we got 2WD vehicles in. It should be ok as long as it's not raining. It's very steep, but not terribly rough.
There are lots of Marmots on the pass and they might eat your wiring and brake lines. If you leave your truck up there you should get a box of mothballs and put them all over the motor and under the vehicle on the road. That seems to work fairly well. Remember to pick them up when you leave.
