Do you think my cheap walmart cotton beanie will be a good enough cozy for freezer bag cooking?

I don't have any time to DIY and it shouldn't be very cold in the NC TN area I'm hiking this weekend.

Thanks

Yes it should be good enough, but i would advise you to try it at home before you leave to make sure.

Don't spill food on it. If you unknowinly do and wear it to bed while sleeping...have a good hike. :)

I know of number of hikers who use their beanies as cozies. It seems to work fine.

Use a fleece beanie, not a cotton one.

+1

I would definitely worry about food and odors of food getting onto my hat, assuming I was going to use it as a hat and not just as a cozy. I know some people do this and get away with it. I make cozies out of Reflectix and find a cozy adds less than an ounce of weight to my kit, even for my largest pot (1.3 L). The cozy goes into my food bag at the end of the day; my beanie goes on my head. Just sayin . . .
