Happy Birthday AT!! It took 15 years to build you and since then nearly 99 percent has been relocated or rebuilt, and transferred from private to public ownership. That means the trail and about 250,000 contiguous acres are better-protected than ever from development and surburban sprawl, says the Roanoke Times. It made today's front page news... woot!! It was orginally routed straight up and down many mountains, exacerbating erosion and making for a difficult hike. Thanks to all the volunteers who have worked hard on the trail for years to make it better for all of us to enjoy!!
