I have some family members coming to visit me it Elizaethton TN and was am looking for recommendations on a day hike in Grayson to see the wild ponies. Did a search but could not fine anything

Hike up to the Thomas Knob shelter area. You can usually see the ponies around there. Early morning is best time in my experience.

That's right T-Rx.... that's where my daughter saw the most ponies on her hike. Grampsb- hope you have great weather... enjoy your hike. :)

Park at the Overnight parking area and take the Spur trail up to the AT @ Massie Gap. Take a left onto the AT (going SOBO), and head toward Mt Rogers and Thomas Knob. You should see some ponies around the Shelter or inside the gated area. Then just passed the shelter, climb up to the top of Mt Rogers (highest peak in VA).
