Looking to finish PA in early Oct. Wondering what the current water conditions are?
Water is only at the shelters, then its seasonal but their is a nice creek right after the 501 shelter.
On 16 Sept there was no water, not a drop at William Penn shelter and no water South of 501 shelter all the way to I-81.
Can you guess who saved this dried up old experienced hiker? A troop of Girl Scouts! They gave me 2 16oz bottles. I will buy cookies every year for ever.

We had a huge storm on Tuesday and all the creeks are way up. They should stay up with a little more rain this weekend. Checkout the dark blue dots on the USGS daily stream flow map: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/pa/nwis/rt

Just finished a 2 day from the Hamburg Reservoir to Rt.501 and all except Black Swatara are flowing great.Happy trails.
I hiked up to the Leroy Smith shelter near Wind Gap yesterday and found the 3rd spring flowing strongly. Spring #2 was still water, #1 dry.

Thanks, I hope to be out there soon. Just wish it was now. Still have a couple of projects o finish up.
Since my last post we have had even more rain, especially today...it's been pouring so water on the trail should not be an issue anywhere in PA. Have a great hike!
