Where to jump on AT 6-8 miles south of Roan High Knob Shelter

I frequently get a shuttle to Carver's Gap and spend the weekend hiking towards 19E near Mountain Harbor BB & Hostel. On my next trip I would like to jump on the AT 6-8 miles south of Roan High Knob Shelter and hike to it the first night. Then proceed toward Carver's Gap the next day and continue as I normally do.

Any recommendations/advice on a good place for a shuttle to drop me off to make this happen?

You can jump on the AT at Greasy Creek Gap... it's about 8 miles south of Roan.

there's no road there. the best bet is Iron mtn. gap TN107/NC226 12 miles south

But, But... the Greasy Creek Friendly hostel is right there. The address to the hostel is- 1827 Greasy Creek Bakersville NC 28705 The trail is .6 miles from this hostel. My hubby walked up to the trail from the hostel to meet us. The road to the hostel isn't bad. It's not paved all the way but it's in pretty good condition.
