I'm a pretty UL hiker and I can get my kit down to 5 or 6 lbs if need be. I'd also like to be able to carry 4 days of food and two liters of water as well. Has anyone found a backpack that they could run or at least jog in comfortably while carrying around 20 lbs?

I like this little critter
The TerraNove Lazer 20L (http://www.irunfar.com/2010/09/terra-nova-laser-20l-pack-review.html)
May not quite hold that 20lbs though, I think I've had it up to 18.
I have used it with a lumbar pack and that combo works for me.
There is an elite version of the 20L that I have not tried.
Let us know what you decide on and how it works out.

I run all the time with my MLD burn. I thru hiked with it last year. I cinched up the back to make the pack an extremely low volume pack when I run. It is very narrow so it is a joy to either hike or run with.

Wow, that's some pack (http://www.backpackingnorth.com/2010/08/first-impressions-mld-burn.html), GG.

I'm not looking for a small pack to run with for a day or so. I want something that can carry a full kit. Have you tried the MLD Burn with a 15+ lb load? Also where do you keep your water when you run in it? How does it feel running with 2+liters of water?

How did you like the water bottle holders on the Lazer? also what lumbar pack did you use? Did it fit well with the Lazer?

I found them fine together, the Lazer is so small the Lowes Alpine lumbar stayed in the right place, but you may have to fiddle with it to get them riding together well. The Lazer bottle holders are adequate but could accommodate a little larger bottle would be nice. My ultimate goal is to get all I need rolled in a great kilt and off I go ;)

Don't know if you are still looking--if so: I saw an Osprey Kestrel 32 in a store the other day and thought it would be a perfect for this kind of hiking.

If I need to lighten my hike load on a short-term, or UL thru-hike, I use this pack:

I'm not overly concerned about lightening my kit. It's about as light as you can go for my base weight. Just got a new bag and it's around 4 1/2 lbs in the summer. My concern is something comfortable while I run all day.
