I had been wondering on how to fully examine yourself for ticks after a solo hike and I had stumbled onto a way to examine areas you cant see. If you use a mobile phone with a camera feature on it, you can take a picture of the unseen area and check the picture with varying angles and can zoom in on suspect areas. Now I am not saying that this is 100% full proof, but it does give you more tools to detect ticks before they imbed for a longer period.

Am I the only one who sees the potential for embarrassment here?

You could use any digital camera.
Adds a whole new meaning to wildlife photography....

There are places on me I don't want to see. Ticks be damned.

I think from 13yo to 15yo my life was much more fun than yours....:D

That's why I still carry a compass (with a mirror). Plus with my sense of direction I've gotten lost in the mall.

I believe I'd rather give the ticks a free meal than be scared for life...I shudder to think what that photo would look like...if it fell into the wrong hands world military dominance could be at stake.

I knew that I could count on y'all for a good belly laugh this morning.... LOL!!! It's not a bad idea for tick checking but, yeah, it could get interesting!!:D

I won't thank you for the mental images this conversation has generated. ;-)

As long as you don't accidently send it to your boss, your Pastor, Rabbi, Ceric, or Priest, or the world in general it should be fine. And yes, do not keep the darn picture...hit delete (unless you REALLY like yourself). I would rather do a preventative tick check than risk getting Lymes Disease or other various tick borne illnesses. Now I don't advocate standing buck naked in the shelter doing this but retreating to the privacy of your tent or elsewhere. :)

Of the five organisms constituting normal perineal flora, I think a few of them are light-sensitive. Much like Mogwai, bright light (especially sunlight) will kill them

Gooch Flora...perineal...and Mogwai... most funny Velvet! Its always been awkward when i asked for someone to take a look for me. not sure how they would deal with it if i asked them to take a pic for me. im all about feeding the little suckers if they are willing to bury into the dark pungent depths of hiker crevice. how long can anything really survive there?
