Does anyone know the status of the forest service road to the Deep Gap, NC trail crossing and parking area. I am planning on a hike starting there this weekend. Last spring I tried to use it as an ending point but the gate was locked. Couldn't find anything about it on the FS website. Thanks
Started a hike from there to Wayah in April - had to clear a blow down on the way up, but got to the trail.

i haven't been there this year but the road is gated 1/1/ to 3/15 every year.

Thanks! It was early march when I was last there. I wasn't aware of the closure dates.

Used the road about three weeks ago. Open and in good shape. The sides of the road could use a good weed-eating! :)

It was open two weeks ago, bunch of cars at the top.

I just hiked through there two days ago. Stayed with some guys near Big Spring Shelter last night who'd gotten dropped off at Deep Gap on Sunday to start their section hike. They said they road was in good shape.
