I just finished a section from Rutland to Hanover in which I hit the border bridge with the VT/NH engraved on the bridge.

I have seen this spot photographed many times on various trail journals and took my own. The Katahdin Sign and McAfee Knob Foot dangling sign have to be #1 and #2 most important/common photos with Springer plaque at #3. I was looking for nominations for #4-10. Thoughts?

Photo in front of the ATC should be #1.

I've only covered Springer to Fontana so far, but the tree at Bly Gap and Long Falls come to mind. My favorite picture (that I have taken) was a sunset from Cheoah Bald.

I missed a lot of these -- VT/NH engraving because of snow in November, Cheoah Bald on Sunday because of wind/rain/fog, don't know how I missed the tree at Bly Gap (unless this was the tree with the pipe in it), because I was looking for it. Cheoah Bald area does have the best scenery I have seen in my 800+ miles, but because of the weather, my best photo-op was from Wesser Bald tower.

I think that Hudson River/Bear Mountain Bridge (or alternatively, the bears at the Bear Mountain Zoo, the lowest point on the trail) should be on a top 10 list. I also really liked the view of Duncannon, PA and the Susquehanna River heading from the south.

Mt. Washington summit, Stratton Mtn. fire tower, Greylock War Memorial come to mind. For us in CT, big summit monument cairn on Bear Mtn is a favorite.

Moosilauke and Lafayette summits, too, of course. Grayson Highland Ponies, Max Patch have to be up there.

I would vote for the Roan pic, based on the fact I haven't been there yet, but I recognize the image, having seen that same shot many times. Good evidence it belongs on the list.

How's about the GA/NC sign nailed to the tree? That's a huge milestone for a majority of first-timers. Also, I dig the pic of the trail going through the building at Neel Gap.

Is this sign still out there? Where is it in relation to the "official" sign. I missed it this summer and was looking for it.

The view from the Gulfside Trail about a half mile below the summit of Mt. Washington looking down the Great Gulf with the Northern Presidential's beyond is one of my favorites.

Photos of the "Chunky Gal Trail" and The "Swinging Dick Gap" signs have been a couple of my favorites. They feed my sixth grade sense of humour quite well. :)

How about the Dover and/or Keffer Oaks?

There's also the AT Train Station near Pawling.

That sign disappeared this summer. AT Troll made the most recent sign a couple of years ago and he doesn't know what happened to it either.

It was nailed to a tree just north of the white NH/ME sign that is still there.

AT Troll put the latest sign up August 19, 2011, he showed it to me the day before he put it up. So that one's gone too?

Oh, and Maine/NH border sign.

As a SOBO hiker I always told myself when I reached that sign I would take a picture of me extending my middle finger. I was so happy to get there I completely forgot about it.

Lots of great suggestions already mentioned. Perhaps the half way sign in PA.

That's a good 'un. My fave so far is the view of Washington's summit cone, the Lakes of the Clouds and the western shoulder of the Presidentials from where Crawford Path joins the north end of the Monroe Loop:

The views of Moosilauke, Cannon, and Kinsmans and westward into Vermont from Franconia Ridge are awesome - pretty well all views from that ridge are.

Man, that is gorgeous. Hoping to catch a warmer weekend, even weekday, this month before winter descends in order to do some or all northern Presis. Want to take in those views!

Great photos, thanks. I particularly like the New England shots. And as a modest contribution, this link, http://www.richardsmith.net/wrsunrise1.html, takes you to a series of high country photos in our back yard here, up on Wilburn Ridge.

I love you pics! What kind of camera do you use? I was looking into a DSLR for hiking, but my buddy said my Finepix s2800HD with a couple of lenses that I can add to it should do just fine, once I learn how to set everything just right. P.M. me with any tips if you want.

Oh, forgot to link my own photo page: http://www.panoramio.com/user/5078936?show=all. Lots of stuff from the New England portions of the A.T., with a lot of CT and Western Mass stuff, too, and a bit of Monadnock. The earlier pages, later in time, are mostly New Hampshire A.T. and side trails.

Thanks. I'm using the Fuji X100. It's got a aps-c sensor, weighs about the same as yours, has a fixed 35mm (full frame eq) lens, and a quirky auto focus. Not a camera for most, but I love it. I wrote about my choices on my blog here:

I don't find WB to be super user-friendly with uploading photos. I've loaded about 10x as many to FB and Pano as to here.

Also, it used to be easier to rate and comment on photos. Seems like very few people do that these days.
