Seems like a great idea. My super think Pentax digi cam would fit in here nicely. Maybe use it to hold Gorp. Price is right too. Anyone have experience with this? good/bad things to say about it?

Sure would limit ventilation up front. Seems like it would make it more difficult to change positions to get comfortable, too. For example, I often loosen my shoulder straps and just let my pack hang back, resting on the hip belt so I have 2-3" between the pack and my back and not using the sternum strap.

I'm sure some folks like it, though...else they would have stopped producing it after one season!

Might just get a small fanny pack and wear it up front?

I've been doing that method for years. Don't know if I want something on my chest at all times. Something low slung along the hip belt works well.

What I **DO** like about the "team pack" is that it is made of silnylon.

Does anyone know of a simple silynylon fanny pack? Alas, my sewing skills are terrible, otherwise I'd make one myself.

Hmm...now thatI think about, I may have a friend who would be willing to sew a silynylon fanny pack.

If you always use your hip belt, or want to put it on your shoulder strap:

I use the mesh bag my Red Ledge pants came in, and attach it to the bottom of my shoulder strap. It rides down and out of the way, then I just slide it up for easy reach when I need something.

That is just what I am looking for...thanks! For $10 I can get two..one for my backpack, one for day pack.

Thanks for the tip!

Light, simple, cheap. I'm sold!

Also take a look at the Dana Design Wet Rib (http://www.backcountrygear.com/catalog/accessdetail.cfm?PRODUCTS__ProductID=DAD1151) (or Dry Rib (http://www.backcountrygear.com/catalog/accessdetail.cfm?PRODUCTS__ProductID=DAD1150)), which attach to your hipbelt, provide a few hundred cubes of storage, and a water bottle (for the Wet Rib). The downside is that they weigh 5-7 ounces since they're made of cordura nylon and they're bomb-proof. It seems like the sil-nyl pouch from Dancing Light Gear would be bobbing all over the place on your hip, which would drive me crazy.

Too heavy! :D I am sub-10lbs in my packweight. Don't want to add half a pound to my weight. Though, I do look the handy-dandiness of a belly pack.

DLG makes this thing-a-ma-bob: a silnylon fanny pack at less than 2 oz and only $15.

i've been using the Luxurylite Backpack with Front Pocket so if you're asking about the validity of the concept I can say that it works....but I dont know where the weight will be carried on the Golite Pouch, with the Luxurylite Front Pocket the weight is carried/transferred to the hip belt, it attaches to the frame uprights and depending on how much weight in the Front Pocket helps to counteract the back pull of the weight in the backpack...by the looks of the Golite Pouch i dont think you'd ever get enough weight into it to counterbalance unless you used lead.
But the Golite Pouch will allow the obvious easy access to camera/snacks/lip balm and so on.
and back to the Luxurylite Front Pocket, i just upgraded to the newest model that has a map pocket built in and separate compartments for water bottles, and incendentally can hold 1 gallon if there is a need.
