I just wanted to know your favorite AT movie. I just purchased Appalacian Impressions and I didn't really like it. Basically they interviewed thru hikers and had a few shots of the trail. I guess I am looking for a movie that follows a group of hikers. Also Appalacian Impressions seemed to be more about the trail than the hikers' experiences. Any ideas would be great.

I boyght both 2000 Miles to Maine & Trek. I think Trek is better but 2000 miles has its moments. Trek covers things in a way I don't mind shwoing to non-hikers. NOT so with 2000 miles which highlights a party or two and on-trail drug use.

Can't say enough good things about TREK. It may be what you're looking for, as it follows four friends hiking the trail together (and their trail friends). It is mainly about their personal experience.

I recently showed this to a friend of mine and now she wants to thru-hike.

I would agree with the above posters. 2000 Miles to Maine has it's moments, but the camera keeps jumping off the Trail to catch the same hikers farther up. In Trek, the camera stays on the Trail and gives one a much better understanding of just what is meant by the phrase, "emotional roller coaster". To actually hear hikers, gassing up hard climbs, slogging throught all day steady downpours or sitting on an incredible overlook in the evening sunset all gives more meaning to the experience.

I agree on Trek, good movie.

Walking with Freedom is another great AT documentary. It was done by Lion King and done really well. He gave a showing of it at Trail Days and the place was packed. Standing room only. The crowd loved the film and Lion King got himself a standing ovation. Great Movie. :clap Excellent tunes. :clap You can prolly get a copy from him by PMing him on here.

Have to agree, Trek is by far the best, and most entertaining/watchable movie I have seen to date. Did get Appalachian Impressions, nicely done, but the voiceover guy took me back to the days of bad filmstrips in school. 2000 miles seemed thrown together.

Have not seem Walking with Freedom yet, but have seen all of the vid clips available online. Will have to check it out!

If you are in the Northeast I found a copy at EMS. I'd just google (or froogle) it otherwise.
