I'm looking at this for a loop trip next summer. Any first hand experience out there? Looks great on topo maps and Google Earth .

I hiked westbound across the Pasayten on the PNT route a few years ago, from Oroville and out to Ross Dam for resupply, over 160 miles. It was impressive, beautiful, and about three miles right at the Pasayten River were about the toughest I've ever hiked. I think that section is cleared out now from a burn. The ranger I met at the old airstrip was pretty sharp, and more than willing to share his cabin. I don't think they see many hikers back in there. You'll want to check with the NF about trail conditions before you go.
