Hi, I'm sorry if someone has already said this, but, I just found How to Hike the A.T.: The Nitty-Gritty Details of a Long-Distance Trek for Amazon Kindle for free. The price is right.

Great find, thanks! Now, if I could only get the time to read all the books I've downloaded....plus the ones in the unread bookcase. (I have enough to justify a case just for those. Insert eyeroll here!)

Yea, I have that problem, too.

I also downloaded it and am currently reading it. However, I wish an actual through hiker would read it and review it here so that those of us wanabees have a clue if the book is accurate or not. The author has not through hiked the trail.

The author has not through hiked the trail.

Yes she has - all but a 100 miles or so in one trip, which is close enough.

***** 5 stars. She covers pretty much everything in a balanced manor. Even I learned a few new things. For the newbie hiker with little or no prior backpacking and camping experiance, it is well worth the read. The book answers many, if not all, the questions frequently asked here on White Blaze and collected in one place.

Slo-go'en: Thanks for the review from someone who's hiked the whole thing. I'm reading it and enjoying it (and learning stuff, too), but I'm not knowledgeable enough to make a valid review.

It's called a sale. When the sale is over, the price goes back up. Sheesh.

I hope she gets paid. It takes a lot of effort to write a book.
