Dr. will refer me to a specialist. Anybody dealt with this before and can share what treatment you received? I'm four months out from my 2013 thru attempt. Can this be resolved in time? Thanks.

My husband was diagnosed with heel spurs a number of years ago. He had a couple of cortisone shots to calm it down. Eventually he got fitted with custom orthotics which seemed to alleviate the problem.

Yeah.... this was a stupid softball injury on wet grass back in July. Just my luck. Hopefully I can get it taken care of. I did go to USC, graduated in 1996. Took the long route after the military. Originally from Columbia.

I've been fighting a heel spur for 3 months now associated with plantar fasciitis. I've been putting off the cortisone shot but might end up getting it.

A heel spur by itself is not considered as the cause of the pain anymore, Plantar fasciitis is. If a physician told you that it does you might consider to replace him.
I am not an expert but someone who had plantar fasciitis. I have found Many good treatment ideas in: http://www.plantar-fasciitis-elrofeet.com/How_is_Plantar_Fasciitis_Treated.html
Good luck

That's exactly what the ortho doc said, the heel spur is not the problem, but it is there. It's the PF that causes pain.
I can't believe that I thrued last year with no problem, then I go on an 8 mile hike on a rail trail and BINGO, PF!!

I fought it all spring and summer. Feels pretty good since getting a cortisone shot and wearing orthotics. I was to the point of barely being able to walk on it.

I had them years ago, and a cortisone shot plus custom orthotics fixed the problem. I wear over-the-counter orthotics now and have not had a problem in 30 years.

I'll keep you posted. I over did the hiking, workouts, in addition to the softball injury. Hopefully I'll figure it out by March. Should have an appt with a specialist within a few days but this Canadian healthcare moves soooooo slow. You figured out your start date yet? I'll send you a more detailed prep update on FB.

I was told that I have heel spurs a year ago. Told to get these $200 special shoes. I didnt of course. I went to walmart got the best gel insoles that they had and have only had very little pain since. I'll be on the trail for my thru-hike 2013.

When I was diagnosed with PF I was told to do a bunch of stretches. It worked very well for me. I suppose we are all different, but that might be a viable route for you.

Good Luck!
