Lets not forget to gives thanks to all of the contractors who also put their lives on the line.
Contractors have largely been forgotten by the public, and that is very wrong.

Well, LW ur statement may have a seed of truth to it, but I don't think I would make such a blanket statement that would include every single person or contractor. I don't know that you meant it that way anyway.

I will be thankful today for everyone that puts themselves in harms way for the sake of our country. It doesn't matter it they aren't officially a part of our military or not. Good point Slimer.

yes i meant it that way. they are serving a corporation.

Well, I know they are getting paid by the corporation but if people, like yourself, and so many others were not willing to serve our country or corporations that benefits an entire country of people- where would we be? Maybe their motivation is $$. I know the military doesn't have to worry about that motivation, much at all.

I think that a man with a helmet defending this country should make more money than a man with a helmet defending a football.

hikermom, they defend the men that defend the football. it is about the service and not the money. the money would only de-value the service. read about Pat Tillman.

wolf,
You should really listen to yourself. Your piss-poor attitude is the same as those who used to spit on 'Nam vets returning home.
I've said my piece, and you're welcome to get the last word as I'm not in the habit of arguing back and forth on the internet.

US Navy 1994-2001 I joined for the training, adventure, and opportunity to leave the house. I got more out of the military than they got out of me. As I have aged, I have given this much thought and feel kind of guilty about this.

I once in awhile have a dream that I'm back in Japan vacationing, but I'm still a corporal and I'm 55 yrs old. Is there some inner meaning to that, I don't know!
