Wondering if anyone knows when the 2013 version will be released? If I'm leaving in April 2013 for a NOBO should I just grab the 2012 version or wait for the 13' to be released?

Preorder will start in a couple weeks. The book will be ready in January and there should be a ebook version and an app coming up. If the ebook is not ready David will give you a PDF if you would like one. I recently emailed Awol with the same question.

I would also suggest liking the AT Guide book on Facebook. After the guide comes out and as hikers move north David will post updates. One of the updates this year was a place that was giving out free banana pudding to thru hikers.

I can't seem to locate the at guide book on facebook. What is the exact name of the facebook page? Thanks

just ordered the loose-leaf!
2013 will probably have as many errors as the 2012 so it won't matter. The town pages are the best part, so the 2012 version will probably work just as good, especially in your planning stages. Just an opinion from someone who cursed Mr. Miller several hundred times this summer.

Remember that time you wrote a guide book for a trail that was over 2,000 miles ;)
My favorite quote about the Companion on my thru this year was, "hhmmmm the Companion says their are only two water sources in the next ten miles -- So that really means there are at least four and a three campsites, I'm good on water for know."
All guide books, maps, etc. will have errors it's a part of rolling with the bunches on your hike.
