Hello all,

I have a Marmot Reactor jacket (100 weight fleece), size L. I am going to buy a Marmot Mica as rain jacket. I am wondering, does a size L Mica fit over a size L Reactor? Do I need to go XL on the Mica?

As a body size reference, the size L Reactor jacket fits me pretty well.

I would appreciate your expert opinions! ;)

I always buy my rain jacket a size larger. It gives space for the air to move through and remove extra moisture that will not be warm enough to pass through the 'breathable' layer--that process is driven by body heat. I also like pit zips. Bigger is better I think. You also do not want to compress the insulation layer.

My research on the Mica mentioned a snug fit, even before you talk about layering. However, if you're just layering around camp then I'd probably try your normal size, whereas if you plan to hike in that setup (winter hiking I'd hope) then I'd go up a size.
