It is great that they are protecting the land and creating trails for hikers.
I am not sure what article the headline writer was reading but at no point did the author of the story mention that the Appalachian trail was going to be extended. It more specifically said it would be a place for Appalachian Trail hikers to continue on towards the Gulf of Mexico.
