How reliable is the temperature rating for a Sierra Designs Solar Down 20 degree bag. Added a bag line when it was around 30 degrees since was cold. Any advise would be helpful.

In the past, they were a bit ambitious. At least for me... I get pretty chilly at night, so I like warmer bags.

That said, it all kinda depends on how the temp rating is defined... "comfortable"? For who, and under what circumstances? I've also heard told that the rating was meant to be a "cool, but not cold" temp rating.

Really though, you want a solid bag that performs well around its temp rating, look at one of the big guns, like Western Mountaineering, or Feathered Friends, or the like.

It's like mpg ratings for cars. Anything the sellers are saying about this should be taken with a grain of salt. Most hikers like the quip; "A 20 degree rating means that in this bag you will die at 20 degrees."
