If wearing last years model doesn't bother you, nothing is wrong with them! If you have money to burn, spend $85 and get the 808's!

No problem. I got my two pair in less than a weeks time, nice shoe. I'm surprised they still have all sorts of sizes left including mine.

Although there's a note on the site, I forgot to mention you usually have to order a 1/2 to whole size larger than normal. NB's tend to run small.

How do they compare with the 808's? I didn't think they were that substantial. (808)

I tried the 808's but didn't like the way they felt around the heal, I could see them causing lots of problems, but who knows maybe it was just the pair I tried.

As far as "substantial" I wasn't looking for that, the opposite actually. I was looking for light and cheap.

Of the 3 different types of trail shoes I have...

Merrells 1 lb 5.8 oz's per shoe
HiTec's 1 lb 0.7 oz's
NB 807's 15.7 oz's and you can tell the difference, light like slippers. More miles and smiles!

They're also all synthetic. Since I'll be hiking the JMT later this summer and it has lots of stream crossings, I wanted something that would dry quick.

My favorite are my Merrells. I have the Mesa ventilator II. They are light, fit my heel great, and have a very stable footbed. Some of the best lightweight trail shoes I have had.

Not great for getting wet from the water but my feet sweat a lot so they are great for that.
