Chattanooga to Bryson City, N.C. is 139.79 miles. 2 hours, 53 minutes driving time. NOC is about 20 more minutes from Bryson City.

the NOC is west of Bryson City, i.e. 20 miles closer to Chattanooga. or to put it another way. 125.9 miles, 2 hours 27 min driving time. or to put it another way, coupla hours.

it's interstate or 4 lane highway all the way from Chatt to NOC with 2 exceptions.
1) just before Parkville Lake to just past the Olympic site on the Ocoee it is 2 lane - ~15 miles
2) just past Andrews NC to NOC it is 2 lane - ~15 miles

Like Gene sez... If you take US 64 through the Ocoee Gorge on a weekend, and the rafters & kayakers are out in force, it's gonna take you longer than 2 hours 34 minutes. Its a nice drive though.
Personally, I'd probably take the Cherohala Skyway over towards Robbinsville, and go in that way. Either route will get ya there through some pretty country.

I imagine, folks who live in Chattanooga who are trying to get to the NOC. :D

Not to metion all the folks in Mid TN stuck at work staring at a dang computer screen. I for one would love to be muncing a Wesser Burger or veggie sherpa rice about now.:datz

Thank you. I'm glad there's at least one other person in the country that still uses miles instead of hours to measure the distance between two points.
Even travel articles in newspapers express it in hours. Now please tell me, how does a newspaper writer know:
1. Who is driving. Some folks drive faster or more aggressively than others.
2. What they're driving. Subcompact, SUV, high performance sports car, truck.
3. What the weather is going to be.
4. Whether or not there's construction or accidents.
5. What time of day: rush hour? Holiday weekend?
If you try to come up with an average, chances are it means absolutely nothing.
A mile is a mile, though. That never changes. Even if you use kilometers, those don't change either.
