Average for the 29 year period from 1960-1990 - Lows in the Mid-40's highs around 70 In Vt and NH. Looks like the snow starts around Mid-September in NH.

It can snow at any time of the year on Mt. Washington, which, by the way, is still covered in the white stuff. I would guess you'd be ok, but please be prepared for cold temps. Franconia ridge and the Presidentials could also get icy overnights and early AM.

Wondering what is normal weather for Mount Washington? The following tables give the average weather conditions on Mount Washington for each month, averaged over the period from 1971-2000. Also included are the extreme (record) conditions recorded during the station's history, from 1933 to the present.

My fav AT web cam; http://www.mountwashington.org/cam/north/index.php
where the AT winds north around Madison, Jefferson, and Adams after Mt Washington.

hmm.. I'm also planning to hike the NH section in September. Looks like i'm in for some chilly nights, whenever I'm not in a hut.
