I am planning for my week long section hike this year and looking for information regarding us76 southbound to springer. Leaving first of June.

Family will be dropping me off at us 76,

Is this a good spot to begin or is there a better location?

Is it easy to locate?

PM me or post, thanks

Thats a major road with a huge parking lot. Can't miss it. Excellent spot.

I did that as a section hike in 2010 in the opposite direction. Dick Creeks Gap is easy to find. The other trailhead (Big Stamp Gap; 1 M from Springer Mtn) is harder to find, especially when I was driving it in the dark.

That is a great place to start. I would recommend going past Springer all the way down to Amicola Falls to make it easier for the person picking you up.

My hiking partner and I did this as a section a few years ago in March, though we started a few miles north of there at Blue Ridge Gap. (That's kind of a tough dirt road though, not as easily accessible.) DCG is a really easy place to start.

The hike to Springer from DCG is great. Even in June you'll get some good views, and there is an easy resupply at Neels Gap should you want that.
