Hughes Gap to Erwin

I did an overnighter with my son last night from Hughes Gap back to Erwin and was surprised to find 3"-10" of snow covering the trail from Hughes Gap to Unaka Mt. Pretty neat Christmas present.

We tented by the spring at Deep Gap last night and it rained all night long. I love the sound of rain hitting the tent and even better - having my son to carry the wet tent in the morning. :)

I talked to Hatie @ Hemlock Hollow and she said that a little higher up people were having trouble near the top.4x4 required.I'd say more snow for most of East TN's higher elevations tonight or tomorrow......
