Someone started on January 1st & finished in time to hit Trail Days. I could see the look & disbelief on everyone's face. "Yeah you just just finihsed............right" What is the earliest someone has completed the trail in one calendar year??

not speaking from experience but i don't think katadin is open till like Aug...so prob not possible

Well, late May or early June anyway, depending on the weather conditions. That said, it's possible to summit in winter if you follow the regs.

We'll have to see how early Swamie makes it. He apparently turned around at Springer a week ago and headed back north. Of course, he'll have to beat a path through a lot of this in NH and Maine, so that could slow things down a little:
