Is anyone getting immunizations of an kind prior to hiking the AT?

I'm curious, too, now! I got my tetanus booster prior to going Outward Bound in '11 and that's all I was going to do. I read on a post a few days ago that someone got their md. to write an antibiotic prescription (good for a year) in case of Lyme disease.

+1 on the tetanus immunization. Ever since my Peace Corps days, where I watched a 23-year-old neighbor succumb to tetanus in just 3 days, I've kept myself up to date. It's a no-brainer for anyone who spends a lot of time hiking, gardening, or doing other outdoor activities, where scratches and contact with the soil are likely.

Probably a good idea to have a prescription course of doxycycline for Lymes Disease handy...as well as having your normal immunizations up to date...great reminder on the tetanus tiptoe!!!!! Its easy to get lax on some of these...a hepatitis A too is a good idea as its becoming more prevalent. The flu shot too is a good idea...
