Does anyone know if the Fontana Dam showers are still there? Are they available yr round or are they seasonal?

They're still there. I suspect they are seasonal.

They were there 3 weeks ago, however the doors were locked. I was there on a thursday, but the visitor center was also closed for the season. I suspect the showers are closed for the season as well. The thing that confused me, was the sign said it would be open in May....Guess the guys leaving springer in march will be showering in the lake.
Last year, the showers at the dam itself were closed, but those by the shelter were open and available in March.

Functional in this October as well.
Just look at outhouse near Fontana Hilton. Stil a hot water is in the shower. Keep fresh and clean! :welcome. And womans side is warmer than mens :).

I'll have to confess I know the women's side is nicer also...but, hey, there was no one else around, the men's side was busy and I stunk.

On 12/31/12 me and Georg checked it before heading to Springer Mtn from Standing Bear Farm. In case we became dirtiest persons on the trail hot shower would be culmination of my hike.:banana
