The New Jersey highpoint monument was scheduled to reopen to the public over the Memorial Day weekend. You should be able to climb to the top now. It's been closed for rennovations for seven years. It's 75th anniversary is this year.

Wasn't there an America's Roof org or something equivalent floating around here? I thought it made mention of the founder passing away... I think I recall one WB member being associated with the Roof... I thought they had all the highpointers listed as well.

Once again, my timing is lousy. I hiked by there last June 30th, hoping to re-create a picture from my first-ever AT backpacking trip in April 1973, taken at the base of the monument (picture here (http://www.whiteblaze.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/65/sort/2/cat/500/page/8)). I'll have to drive by sometime on my way out to see my folks.
