I'm looking foor a place to get closed cell foam. The closed cell foam pads you can buy are too small. Need one 26x75x1. I have a lrg size prolite pad and I want a c.c.f. base. If any one knows of a place to get some or how to mod a reg. Size pad. Tks

I plugged in "closed cell foam" into Amazon.com and it came up with several items. First one was the ALPS, but I can't seem to find a chart with dimensions. Does it need to be 1 inch thick?

Good luck.

www.lawsonequipment.com (http://www.lawsonequipment.com) Lawson is currently out of stock, but he said he should have them in stock in about a week or so. 1/8 up to 1/2", 24W x 74"L. He offers free shipping on orders over $10. A 1" thick roll would be huge. 1/2" is the max I've ever seen anyone carry.

not sure how what r-value you may need, but you can order this one in a 41" width and trim it down:

Can you glue closed cell foam together ? Like super glue or something ? I think I can get 2 military foam sleep pads for cheap, cut them to 13" wide each and gloe them together,, if super glue or something would work. Wdyt ?

1" is crazy thick, and might not roll well. There's this though. 3/4" thick and 25" wide.

I just got 3 rolls delivered yesterday of the Cross Linked PE from these folks so that I can cut it to fit my needs .

http://www.usafoam.com/closedcellfoam/closedcellfoam.html

They say that a full sheet of the 1/4"x72"x48", 2lb density is 1-1/2lbs. I guess if you can do the math you could figure out an approximate weight for the size you want to cut up. I don't like math, so I'll weigh mine after I cut.

Let me know how the cross linked pe works out. It looks good and not bad on $$$

I finally cut it down. Seems to work well. I have a sheet of 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2. I used the 3/8 at 56* in my hammock. All was well. I can't give you a weight as I don't have a scale.

Is the XL Ridgerest no longer available? I had one, it was 25x77 inches, worked great in a hammock. Lent it to a friend, haven't seen it in a couple of years.

REI.com Try that out and I think you'll find it to be a real good resource.

You may want to check out the carpet padding at a carpet dealer. Not the crumbly stuff. There are some that are more solid and water resistant. There is a Scotch Guard product that looks like it was made for a sleeping pad. I don't remember the thickness, but I'm guessing 5/16". It costs next to nothing. I'm planning on experimenting with it, and maybe bonding it with other products. They also had memory foam. I can think of all kinds of uses for that at such cheap prices.

Ok..maybe 1" is kinda big. 1/2" or alittle less is ok. This is like a pad under my prolite large mat for those weekend/base camp kinda thing. Wouldn't think of carrying it for miles and miles .
