Not cheap, but looks like a couple of innovative products there. I like the Bear Star, kinda neat.

Cool site! I love the man soap lol....the field journal looks pretty cool, too. I'm going to have to look into some of this stuff. It is expensive, though...$15 for 50ft parachord? $40 for 4 tent stakes? Even a bandana is $35. Like I said, cool stuff, though.

I think that this is the right gear for camping in Central Park, like NYC Central Park

I'm all for quality, handmade items but a lot this stuff is just stupidly overpriced.

I like the look of that knife.
Maybe expensive (no I am not about to buy one...) but nice

+1 on that!

I'm sure they'll find a niche market among outdoorsy urbanites, but they're certainly not trying for the poor hikertrash audience.

I will admit that it's a cool looking site though.

It appears that is their main job per the consulting link on the bottom of the page.

That is how I immediately knew it was crap without even looking through the comments here or looking past their front page. People who are trying to make a good product focus on their product first and their image second. Hipsters are all about image so that is what they focus on.

Rocketsocks - you messin' with me? Did you look at the site?I was messin with ya, that catalog use to sit on our coffee table at home...right next to the LL bean catalog. It came out in the 80's as a gag gift that my father gave to me for x-mas one year. I found it in my garage in a box a couple years ago, after having forgotten about it all these years. Sorry for posting, as I had a weak moment. :)

I did look for the "Bear Star" but couldn't find it...what is it? cool site though!

rockinthesocks - I love the inflatable cheese slice... if that isn't marketing genius, I'm not sure what is. Too bad you're not buying the $85 bear star. I really wanted to borrow it from you for my thru hike next year.

yellowsirocco - A backpacking hipster? That's something I have yet to see. ;-)

Oh, and btw, I just purchased 100 of the $15 sharpies. Who wants to buy one? I'm selling them for $16 each. Free shipping.

Exactly... talk about gimmicky, retro-marketing.

What a joke.
